In a bid to douse tension ahead of Saturday’s Ondo State governorship primary, the All Progressives Congress has made copies of its delegates’ list available to all aspirants.
This was confirmed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Isunaso, in a response to an inquiry by The PUNCH, in Abuja, on Wednesday.
Although he did not elaborate, a source close to his office said, “We have since given out the authentic list. There were so many versions flying around. As a transparent party, we decided to release the authentic list to all in order to forestall any form of manipulation.”
This is coming at a time when more party leaders pledged support for one of the leading aspirants, Olusegun Abraham.
Abraham, who is said to enjoy the endorsement of a former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has also received endorsements from other party leaders in Ondo State.
One of such leaders is Dr. Taiwo Malumi who argued that it was time for the party to reclaim Ondo State and set it on the path of development.
Malumi, in a statement, enjoined delegates whom he had the privilege of speaking to at Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area, to cast their votes for Abraham.
A war of words had broken out among the major contenders in the race for the APC ticket following claims that the delegates’ list had been doctored to favour a particular aspirant.
Twenty-four aspirants would be jostling for the party’s sole ticket at Saturday’s primary.
