The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 28 governorship election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has promised to run a financially transparent government where the state’s resources are managed with prudence.
Ize-Iyamu assured Edo residents that his administration would not run a government that would patronise a few individuals to the detriment of the entire citizenry.
The PDP candidate disclosed this in statement by the media director of his campaign organisation and state Publicity Secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare, in Benin, on Tuesday.
“It is important to state here that the PDP government under the leadership of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu shall manage the resources of the state prudently, judiciously, accountably and in the interest of all.
“Our government will not be profligate or patronising of a few like the incumbent APC government which goes around with a mask of hypocrisy,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, the PDP has urged voters in the state to disregard what it described as “cheap tricks” by the ruling All Progressives Congress aimed at deceiving them.
The party, in a statement signed by Nehikhare, said that it was fully confident that Edo people had become more discerning and could, therefore, not be deceived by the cheap tricks of a failed party that betrayed their expectations.
“The PDP is also convinced of the fact that the belief and trust of the suffering masses of Edo cannot be eroded by the propaganda of the APC,” the statement read.
Following the APC’s criticisms against a former governor of the state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, the PDP said that it was proud of its relationship with the Igbinedion family.
It added, “Having said this, we want to acknowledge the fact that we are proud of our relationship with the universally acclaimed entrepreneur and philanthropist par excellence, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
“We are proud to say that this rare personage, whose table hosts kings and heads of nations all year round, is a leader of the PDP.”
